Adult Education Program Manager

Mercy Center is a comprehensive community center that has been serving women and their families in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx, NY for more than 24 years. Through our varied programs, we address the needs of the whole person, developing skills for healthy family living and economic advancement while building a community of respect, hospitality and non-violence.
The Program Manager will be responsible for all administrative and managerial duties that are necessary for the operation of the Education programs.
This is a full time 40 hour/week position that will require flexibility in scheduling to include some evening and weekend work. Salary: $35,000 – 40,000 with generous benefits package.
Responsibilities:

Manage teacher schedules, timesheets, and general operations for smooth running of programs

Responsible for training and recruitment of volunteer and paid teachers

Arrange monthly staff development sessions including sessions on various instruction methods and enriched learning in classroom settings

Provide informational materials for Adult Education Program and respond to inquiries from students, staff, and the public

Organize outreach for classes and events

Maintain attendance records, evaluations and other in ESOL/ HSE databases

Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system

Manage administrative tasks and database entries daily

Support Director of Adult Education & Workforce Development in assigned project based work

Troubleshoot problems or complaints

Work to ensure all contract obligations are met

Teach ESOL as needed

ESOL teaching experience required

Attend relevant meetings, trainings, workshops and conferences

Collaborate in the continual improvement of the Education and Workforce Department

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team

Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
-
MA preferred or BA and 3 years of relevant professional experience

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Outstanding computer skills
-
Passionate commitment to immigrant communities

Ability to work effectively with people with diverse backgrounds and experiences

High energy, ability to work under pressure, and a sense of humor

Fluency and literacy in English and one of the following languages:
-
Spanish
-
French
-
Arabic
-
-
Knowledge Capricorn and ETO an asset
-
Knowledge of the NYC DOE and DYCD a plus

Experience working with the immigrant community preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
