Development Intern

Mercy Center has an active and robust Development Department of three responsible for raising all of the funds necessary to serve our 2,000 participants each year.  We currently seek an intern to assist with communication, events and other fundraising efforts in the Development Department.  The internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of fundraising with an active development team that seeks funds to support a thriving community organization.

The ideal candidate will be a current university student or a recent college graduate with an interest in community development, social services and a desire to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector. Office administration skills, personal organization skills, good computer skills and an exceptional attention to detail are a must.  Experience in database management, graphic design, social media development, professional writing, and academic research would be a plus.  Candidates must be willing to commit a minimum of 10-15 hours/week.  College credit available if desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and executing the annual schedule of fundraising events, including the annual gala and auction

  • Assist with production of communications materials including individual donor mailings and materials for social media platforms

  • Assist with ongoing changes and updates to the organization’s Internet and social media sites.

  • Assist with the writing and design of outreach materials (press releases, brochures, etc.)

  • Assist with preparation of grant proposals, donor reports and letters of inquiry, as well as provide general administrative support

  • Draft and design internal and external documents

  • Conduct online research
