Our MISSION
Mercy Center creates opportunities for women, men and families in the South Bronx to grow and thrive through education, family, civic, social and economic programs. We build community with a spirit of hospitality, respect and equity in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy.
Our HISTORY
Mercy Center was founded in 1990 as a counseling and support center to help women deal with stresses in their lives, and offer them a chance to grow towards reaching their full potential.
Mercy Center soon developed parenting classes and women’s support groups to help parents meet the challenges they faced. Over the years more programs were added, including Family and Youth Programs, Adult Education and Immigrant Services, Social Services and Community Education, and Personal Development.
In 2020 Mercy Center celebrated its 30th Anniversary, and is now embracing the opportunities and challenges of the next 30 years!
