Volunteering at Mercy Center |
|
Mercy
Center depends on the generosity of over 200 people who volunteer
their time and talents to our work. Some help regularly a few days a
week, others come to help for a few hours or a special event.
Daytime, evenings, Saturdays –
we count on our volunteers all week long!
Please call us at 718-993-2789 to learn more
about volunteering.
Here are some of the varied
ways our volunteers help: |
|
♦ |
Education
Classes and
Personal
Development
Mercy Center volunteers are needed to teach or assist in our classes: ESL
(English as a Second Language), computer
classes (MS Word, Excel, Power Point), Keyboarding Skills, Office Training, Introduction to the Internet/Computers,
and Personal Development workshops (including yoga, spirituality groups,
and outings). |
|
♦ |
Activities
for Children and Teens
Come work with our children and teens in our After-School program,
Saturday Reading Enrichment program, cultural outings, teen discussion groups and film
nights. |
|
♦ |
Social Services and Advocacy
Work with Mercy Center staff to help provide social services,
immigrant services and guidance, and advocate for Mercy Center
participants. |
|
♦ |
Professional Skills
Share your
professional skills -
legal skills; counseling; fundraising/development expertise; lead
workshops (for staff or participants) in your area of expertise. |
|
♦ |
Office Work, and Special Events
Mercy Center can
always use extra help with reception, bookkeeping, and general office
work, and with our special events throughout the year. |
|
Our arms reach out in a thankful embrace of
each and every one of our volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering - whether for a single event, or
an ongoing basis - please give us a call at 718-993-2789.
