English As A Second Language/Immigrant Services

ESL Classes are offered in Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels and are complemented by the assistance of Conversation Partners and reading and computer resources.

Additionally, assistance is offered in immigration matters and documentation issues, and special events offer information and advocacy around issues of immigrants' rights, access to health care, workplace concerns, etc.  Mercy Center also partners with the Immigrant Protection Unit of the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) to provide legal representation to our participants in immigration proceedings, thanks to funding secured by Councilmember Maria del Carmen Arroyo.

Citizenship Classes are offered to those who have already submitted their applications.

Almost all of our ESL teachers are volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering as an ESL teacher, tutor, or conversation partner should contact our ESL Coordinator at 718-993-2789.
