Stephen J. Stritch III Appointed Executive Director

at Mercy Center Bronx

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen J. Stritch III as the Executive Director of Mercy Center, effective August 4.

Steve has worked with the Sisters of Mercy for thirty years in the field of education, as a founding member of the Sponsor Council, and as the liaison to several Mercy Ministries. He has honed his leadership skills at Waldron Mercy Academy in Merion Station, Pennsylvania as a teacher, Director of Admissions, Vice Principal, Acting Principal and finally Executive Director of Advancement. Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong connection to the service of the poor that began with teaching in an inner-city Latino community and continues with active service to those in need. Steve gained knowledge and insight into the work of social service agencies as a member of the Board of Directors of Mercy Neighborhood Ministries, and work with Hope Partnership for Education. His administrative experience spans community outreach, oversight of construction, communications, and fundraising.

Steve Stritch earned a B.A. in elementary education from LaSalle University and an M.A. in educational leadership with principal and supervisor certification from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia. Steve states that his "personal mission is to recognize and help develop the potential in others." Mercy Center is eager to see his collaborative and consultative leadership style augment and complement the talent and skills that already exist among our staff. Please join us in wishing Steve a very warm welcome to the South Bronx!
